Hardwood Blanket Chests
Cherry/Beech
Customer project, 2025
These functional chests offered a good opportunity to express grain variation well. Experimentation in panelling and lid options led to the use of neat tongue and grooved sides and “bread board” ends. Boxes similar to this available in a variety of hardwoods and custom sizes, and designs can be adapted to your requirements.

Ossie Benches
24MM Birch Plywood
Customer project, 2024
Ossie is a York-based lifestyle brand and yoga/fitness studio. The studio space required some simple seating for customers. The room’s abundance of natural light and maple herringbone floor provided a relevant use for birch ply. The material lent itself to this commercial setting and allowed for the use of sturdy joinery designed to tackle high frequency use and general wear and tear expected in such an establishment. Hardwood dowels were utilised for subtle detailing. Available for order, the design utilises one 8x4 sheet of Plywood with minimal waste and quick build times.

Cherry Desk
Cherry/Maple
Customer project, 2025
Client requested cherry wood to match the warm orange tones found in the existing decor of this bright room. The design looked to functionally mimic structures found in basic office desks whilst allowing for opportunities in showing off some attractive traditional joinery. The simplicity in construction afforded time to work on detailing using hand tools. Wedged mortise and tenons and dovetails, coupled with a pronounced chamfer on the top, work in conjunction with contrast maple highlights that result in a characterful and sturdy desk. Available in a variety of hardwoods, can be made to measure and designs can be adapted to your requirements.

End Grain Chopping Boards
Cherry/Beech
Bespoke wooden product, 2025
Specially selected boards are chosen to display natural variance between the lighter sap wood and darker heart wood of the tree. These contrasting sections can then be carefully arranged to form distinctive triangular or diamond patterns. The use of end grain in chopping boards reduces surface imperfections over time and helps reduce the dulling of knives due to the softer nature of the wood fibres. Finished in natural tung oil. Boards can be made to custom measurements and will have a completely unique pattern.

Lectern
Walnut/Cherry
Customer project, 2023
This lectern was designed for members of York St. John University’s Islamic Society for use in prayers. Taking design cues from geometric patterns and Islamic architecture, the aim was to provide a functioning reading stand with a subtle religious identity. Numerous MDF prototypes were produced in the development of the object. Thoughtful design combined with complex woodworking technique offered a perfect learning experience whilst providing a product for real world use.
